Backpacking Indonesia Itinerary

Mt Bromo Crater

Exploring strange new lands with just a backpack and a map in hand is beyond exciting and fun.  Here you’ll find the fundamental part of our adventure and what kept us busy for the last few weeks. Expect a lot of road trip stories and budget travel tips coming up.

Indonesia isn’t the world’s most popular route for independent travelers and backpackers, but surprise, we cannot underestimate the beauty of the road less traveled. And who can resist a $12 roundtrip air tickets for 2? Thanks to Cebu Pacific’s Piso fare, we got the most coveted airfare, that’s P544 in peso.

Hi Gael, Thanks for dropping by. I’m quoting from the brochure I got from the agent, Bromo Package Tour – Room 1 night, Breakfast and ferry to Bali – IDR. 320,000. But note that it doesn’t include the 4×4 jeep which I think is a must if you don’t want to missed the sunrise and won’t bother yourself with 4 hours of walking to the deck and to the crater. The jeep cost around 70,000 per person. Be sure to ask your agent about this. Otherwise, you can pay at the registration area, its around 90,000 from there. We haggle down the price to 350,000 per person, all in but changing “ferry to Bali” to “transport to Surabaya”. If you’re going back to Yogyakarta, it can also be arranged. For Borobudur -Prambanan – Ramayana Ballet, we paid 400,000 for our own service car – driver and gas included. Our package is from 10am-10pm, but the Ramayana show ends at 10:30, but no problem at that. If you’re early, you can join the couch tour which starts at 8, Borobudur-Kraton-Prambanan for 100,000 (9 hours) then join the separate couch for Ramayana at 6pm. (40,000 to and fro).

Airport taxi is 50000 to Jalan Malioboro and Jalan Sosrowijayan.

      Hi Happysole,

Medyo tight sked. Are you planning to book return flights Jakarta-Yogya-Jakarta? Probably same ang IT natin kasi late night din ang flight namin from Manila to Jakarta, then take kami ng earliest flight the next day to Yogya. Then from airport taxi na to Sosrowijayan. Walk in lang kami ng accommodation then hanap agad ng travel agency para magbook ng tour kaso di na kami umabot sa package tours for the day so rent na lang kami ng private car to borubudur, prambanan etc. Kung target nyo magBromo, hindi kakayanin since whole day ang travel time papunta dun by van. When are you going? Excited na ko to go back to Indonesia, but this time in Bali naman next month :) Have fun! you’ll love the culture scene in yogya.

it’s actually a choice between Bali & Yogyakarta. pero madaming mas magandang beaches dito sa atin. hehehe March ang punta namin. magbo-book plang kami ng Jakarta-Yogya-Jakarta flight. anong oras usually ang start ng Borobodur tours? Di na kami mkakapag-Bromo. Borobodur lang talaga. which is fine with us. :)

Good luck on your Bali tour! thanks!
